Girls’ Night: Equinox and the Kennedy Center

Today I want to share a fun evening that I had in the city. Jen and I had a girls’ night and we had dinner then went to a show. We started the evening at Equinox, where we had a special “Pre-theater” three course meal. For $12 we added a wine pairing as well.

Equinox started our meal off by serving us grilled figs with hazelnuts and a glaze.

Our first glass of wine was a nice, refreshing white wine.

Next, Jen and I both got the Oven Roasted Tomatilla Soup. The soup had sweet summer corn and fresh cilantro, and it was served with Black Bean Fritters.

Our next wine was a red wine from California.

For the second course, I chose the Grilled Creekstone Farm Beef Striploin, which was served with Sungold Tomatoes, Caramelized Parisian Gnocchi, Artichoke Puree.

Jen ordered the Equinox BBQ’d Norwegian Salmon, which was served with Crab Stuffed Sweet Pepper, Roasted Corn, Avocado Mousseline.

Our dessert wine pairing was a sweet and bubbly Moscato.

And dessert itself, was a vegan Amaretto-Citrus Cheesecake, served with Moscato Marinated Berries, Coconut Tuile, Preserved Strawberry Gelee.

Next, Jen and I went to the Kennedy Center to see The Book of Mormon. This was my first time at the Kennedy Center and it was great!

During intermission, Jen and I went up to the terrace and had a great view of the Rosslyn skyline as the sun was setting.

Have you seen The Book of Mormon? It was a very entertaining show! I haven’t seen a musical in a while and now that I’ve been to the Kennedy Center, I’ll definitely have to return to see another show here.
